What to know before visiting a marine park
uploaded by 124yuppers at youtube.com
Have any questions? Want to know the facts? Post a comment below or message me.
Just so you know, US aquariums can no longer import wild-caught dolphins without a permit.
With this video, I'm not telling people not to visit marine parks. I'm asking them to learn the facts and then make an educated decision on whether or not to support captive cetaceans. So please, if you are planning on swimming with the dolphins or visiting a marine park, learn the facts and think twice about whether you want to support this.
The "narrators" in this video..
Ric O'Barry: He trained the five dolphins who played flipper and the first captive orca on the East Coast. When one of the dolphins who played flipper committed "suicide" in his arms, he became the most infuencal, anti-captivity dolphin activist in the world. He "stars" in the movie the Oscar award-winning documentery the Cove.
Lincoln O'Barry: He's Ric O'Barry's son, and he's also a dolphin activist.
Naomi Rose: Sh's a marine biologist who is also a spokesperson for the HSUS.
Russ Rector: He's another dolphin trainer turned dolphin activist
Jean Michel Cousteau: He's the son of the world-famous Jacques Yves Cousteau (who was also an anti-cap). Jean has a number of documenteries on marine life and is an expert on the oceans. Here's his full message on orca captivity: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fp8MkPyBE5A

Peace Is The New Frontier
uploaded by fallingwhistles at youtube.com
Throughout all of history, human beings have come together to solve great problems. Time and time again we have made the impossible possible.
We have crossed the oceans, traveled the great plains, conquered the skies and extended our reach to space. But we have yet to live in a century with less war than the century before us.
Like our forefathers, we too are pioneers.
And peace is the new frontier.
The Cove Trailer
uploaded by takepart at youtube.com
Winner of the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, The Cove follows a high-tech dive team on a mission to discover the truth about the international dolphin capture trade as practiced in Taiji, Japan. Utilizing state-of-the-art techniques, including hidden microphones and cameras in fake rocks, the team uncovers how this small seaside village serves as a horrifying microcosm of massive ecological crimes happening worldwide.
The Cove exposes not only the tragedy of dolphin slaughtering in Japan, but also the dangerously high levels of mercury in dolphin meat and seafood, the cruelty in capturing dolphins for entertainment, and the depletion of our oceans fisheries by worldwide seafood consumption. We also see how the mandate of the International Whaling Commission has been manipulated by the Japanese Fisheries Agency for its benefit and its subsequent effect on the rest of the world.
