We are now approaching the state of Orwell's dictum that he "who controls the present controls the past." He who controls internet servers controls the intellectual record of mankind, and by controlling that controls our perceptions of who we are, and by controlling that controls what laws and regulations that we make in society. - Julian Assange, 2010 http://sicherheitskonferenz.de berlin AlQaeda: ISI, IAI, Islamic state of iraq. Egyptian opposition leader, Mohamed ElBaradei appeared in Cairo's main square on Sunday evening, addressing thousands of protesters who were calling for the departure of President Hosni Mubarak. The protesers have defied a curfew imposed by the Mubarak government. Nobel Peace laureate and democracy advocate Mohamed ElBaradei took up a bullhorn at Tahrir Square to call for President Hosni Mubarak to step down. He told thousands of protesters who defied a third night of curfew that what they had begun cannot go back and that change can only come from the country itself. Mohamed ElBaradei, Egyptian opposition leader, said, "As we mentioned before we have an essential demand, the departure of this regime and we will start a new phase, a new Egypt where every Egyptian will live in freedom and dignity." Earlier reports say ElBaradei has been mandated to discuss the formation of a new government and will soon communicate with the military. Egyptian opposition parties have agreed to support Elbaradei in negotiations with the current government. Meanwhile, protesters in Cairo marched through the streets in another defiance of a government curfew on Sunday. A large crowd of protesters made their way to Tahrir square. The army made no attempt to disperse the protesters gathered at the Square, which they have occupied since Friday afternoon. Protester, said, "No one is afraid of the curfew, we have been afraid for 30 years and no-one is afraid now. We want freedom, we want to be free to elect a president, a real president that can really take this country forward," The Egyptian government has extended the curfew in Cairo, Alexandria and Suez. The curfew, previously from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m., now runs from 3 p. m. to 8 a.m. local time. Egypt Revolution, Jet Fighters Over Cairo, Mohammed Al-Baradei, 30/01/2011
uploaded by TelLieVision1 at youtube.com
Fighter jets swooped low over Cairo on Sunday in what appeared to be an attempt by the military to show its control of a city beset by looting, armed robbery and anti-government protests. Minutes before the start of a 4 pm (1400 GMT) curfew, at least two jets appeared and made multiple passes over downtown, including a central square where thousands of protesters were calling for the departure of President Hosni Mubarak. Police could be seen returning to some streets nearly two days after virtually disappearing, creating a security vacuum only partially filled by the presence of army troops backed by tanks at key sites around this city of 18 million people. After days of escalating chaos, gangs of armed men attacked at least four jails across Egypt before dawn Sunday, helping to free hundreds of Muslim militants and thousands of other inmates. The 2011 Egyptian protests are a continuing series of street demonstrations taking place throughout Egypt from January 2011 onwards, with organizers counting on the Tunisian uprising to inspire the crowds to mobilize. The demonstrations and riots were reported to have started over police brutality, State of emergency laws, unemployment, desire to raise the minimum wage, lack of housing, food inflation, corruption, lack of freedom of speech and poor living conditions. The protests main goal is to oust President Hosni Mubarak who has been in power for more than 30 years. While localized protests were already commonplace in previous years, major protests and riots erupted all over the country starting on 25 January, known as the "Day of Anger", the date set by Egyptian opposition groups and others for a major demonstration. The 2011 protests have been called "unprecedented" for Egypt, and "some of the most serious civil unrest in recent memory" in the country. Hosni Mubarak presidency: President Hosni Mubarak has ruled Egypt since 1981. His government, which has been criticized in the media and amongst NGOs, is supported by the United States because of his "persecution of the Islamists generally supportive of Israel." As a result, the initial reactions to Hosni Mubarak's abuses by the U.S. were muted, and most instances of socio-political protest in the country, when they occurred at all, rarely made major news headlines. Police Brutality: Khaled Mohamed Saeed died under disputed circumstances in the Sedi Gabr area of Alexandria on June 6, 2010. Multiple witnesses have testified that Saeed was beaten to death by the police, On 25 June Mohamed ElBaradei, former head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, led a rally in Alexandria against alleged abuses by the police and visited Saeed's family to offer condolences. Economic Policy: About 40 percent of Egypt's 80-million population lives on or around two dollars per day, and a large part of the population relies on subsidized goods. Protests: In Egypt, at least six cases of self-immolation have been reported, including a man arrested while trying to set himself on fire in downtown Cairo. Abdou Abdel-Moneim Jaafar, a 49-year-old restaurant owner, set himself alight in front of the Egyptian Parliament. Scale of protests: Thousands were protesting in the capital of Cairo on the 25th of January, with 15,000 alone occupying Tahrir square; 20,000 in various locations across Alexandria, 200 demonstrators were in the southern city of Aswan, 2000 in the eastern city of Ismailiya; and about 3000 in the northern city of Mahallah. facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Vittorio-Arrigoni/290463280451 Le proteste anti-Mubarak arrivano a Gaza. More than fifty thousands Anti-government protests have broken out in Egypt after an internet campaign inspired by the uprising in Tunisia. The Tunisian domino effect? As Tunisians witnesses the rebirth of their country, there are fears among their North African neighbours that their discontentment, and eventual uprising, could spread. Protests are being held in Egypt on Tuesday, in a stand against 82 year old President Hosni Mubarak, who's been in power for nearly 29 years. Egyptians say they want change, and are looking towards Tunisia for inspiration. January 27th Day of anger in Egypt

Egypt Uprising: Some security forces leave their post join protesters
uploaded by otraverdad1 at youtube.com
live http://www.presstv.com/live/ Egyptian opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei has participated in the Friday prayers in the Egyptian capital of Cairo amidst police clampdown on his supporters and anti-government protesters. The prominent opposition figure recently returned to the country, expressing readiness to lead Egypt's protest movements with the aim of enabling a "peaceful transition" of power. ElBaradei joined at least 2,000 people in Friday prayers in a public square in central Cairo, ahead of nationwide anti-government protests, AFP reported on Friday. Police have reportedly fired rubber bullets in the air, and used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protesters in a central Cairo square after Friday prayers. Worshippers prayed outside a large mosque in central Cairo and chanted "Down with (President) Hosni Mubarak" as soon as the prayer was over, amid a heavy security presence. Reports also indicate that Egyptian police has cracked down on ElBaradei supporters. Meanwhile, the Egyptian government has stepped up its clampdown on the media and communications services ahead of massive protests expected after Friday prayers. On Thursday, Egypt's largest opposition group, the Muslim Brotherhood, called on Egyptians to continue the protests after the weekly Muslim prayer congregation of Friday. Reports say that at least nine people have been killed and hundreds arrested during the past three days of unrest. ElBaradei, the former UN nuclear chief, who is reportedly viewed as an agent for democracy, travelled to Egypt from Vienna on Thursday to join current demonstrations against Mubarak's three-decade-long rule over the country.
