Rome, Italy: Catacombs and Appian Way
uploaded by RickSteves at youtube.com
Rome's San Callisto catacombs housed early Christian heroes later recognized as martyrs and saints as early as the 3rd century. Along with the catacombs, which were abandoned and forgotten in the Middle Ages, Rome's ancient Appian Way is enjoying resurgence as a well-known attraction for locals and tourists alike. Watch high resolution, full-length episodes for FREE exclusively at http://www.4KidsTV.com 24/7! The team finds the hidden base of the Seeker, Joan of Arc, under the cave of the Gargoyle. Dante is not surprised, since Joan of Arc was burned in the nearby city of Rouen, where the Gargoyle myth began. In her notes they find the location of the Joan's ring, which she claims is the relic that gave her the power to see the future. Dante realizes that this info must be the Organization was after all along. After checking in with Guggenheim, the team heads to Paris following a clue about gargoyles. Checking the direction a certain gargoyle is facing on the Notre Dame Cathedral, they are led to a backstreet little church. Unfortunately, DeFoe has been following them, and there is a confrontation. Our heroes escape into the church, and find a hidden entrance to the Paris Catacombs. Inside, they evade the Organization and follow the clues through the dark Catacombs. Eventually, the team overcomes many obstacles and finds the ring of Joan of Arc. However, DeFoe has been taking this time to recruit all the suits in Paris to help him. They have all exits blocked by their men. How will Dante and the others escape with the ring?

Italy travel: Rome. The Catacombs, with Perillo Tours of Ita
uploaded by johnpmeyer at youtube.com
Italy travel: Rome, the Christian Catacombs (beginning). Unlike the Catacombs in Paris, these catacombs had no bones. However, it was a rather amazingly intricate and extensive network of tunnels! The video shows that you wouldn't want to play 'hide and seek' here. The one that we visited had tens of thousands of bodies interred in it's time. All the half arches you see in this video held a body or two (or more); the tiny spaces held children. Our Perillo Tours Familia walked single file down these narrow corridors. The sterility of the current presentation belies the magnitude of 10,000 corpses decomposing; the stench must have been overwhelming. (You can view this video, and other travel videos in full-size and near-DVD quality, travel stills and more at www.jpmeyer.com).

Italy travel: Rome, more Catacombs, with Perillo Tours of It
uploaded by johnpmeyer at youtube.com
Italy travel: Rome, video of more catacombs, and the most elaborately decorated crypt of our tour. All of the Apostles are drawn on the inside of the arch, such that the occupant(s) would 'see' the drawing. The person who was laid to rest here must have been very important to warrant such a tomb with a view. On our Perillo Tours of Rome we have gone from the Sistine Chapel to this painted arch in the Catacombs. Both artists worked on their backs for a long time to perform their tasks, but the artist in the catacombs did it by candlelight amongst the stench of 10,000 decaying corpses. Probably rats and flies, too. (You can view this video, and other travel videos in full-size and near-DVD quality, travel stills and more at www.jpmeyer.com).
