Mambo Italiano: Sophia Loren
uploaded by xoxclaudia101xox at youtube.com
Sophia came from her native Italy to America and became one of the world's greatest sex symbols. With exotic curves that made Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield look shapeless( joke), Loren relit the Italian passion that Rudolph Valentino made famous back in the 1920's. After starring in many hit films, Loren struck Oscar gold for her role in the Italian film 'Two Women'. Directed by Carlo Ponti, whom she married after many relationships with other cinema greats Cary Grant and Gregory Peck. Even today, Loren looks stunning and is still named in 'the most beautiful women in the world' lists. Everybody fell in love with Loren's European sex appeal and warmth that she so wonderfully oozed onscreen. A screen legend, Sophia Loren will forever be remembered for her fantastic performances, striking beauty and curves. All of which, was natural. The song is 'Mambo Italiano' by Rosemary Clooney. Sophia Loren -Remembering "More Than A Miracle"
uploaded by boopkid at youtube.com
More Than a Miracle (1967), a gorgeously filmed fantasy-romance that was more appropriately titled Cinderella, Italian Style in England. Sophia Loren, who has rarely looked more beautiful, plays Isabella, a poor peasant girl who falls in love with the handsome but arrogant Prince Rodrigo in Campania,Italy, around 1600, under Spanish rule. Prince Rodrigo Ferrante d'Avalos, reluctant to marry receives advice from friar, Giuseppe da Copertino to marry only the girl who will prepare and give him to eat seven dumplings. He meets a proud, very beautiful farm girl, Isabella Candeloro, and struck by her beauty, has her make him the dumplings. But Isabella eats one of them and the prediction does not come true for the moment. Isabella herself is not insensitive to the prince's charm, and to get close to him she manages to get into the royal palace by getting hired as a scullery maid. Rodrigo meanwhile, is forced for reasons of State, to choose a bride from among the seven princesses of the seven provinces of the realm; he therefore orders the would-be brides to wash stacks of dishes and he will choose the princess who breaks the fewest. Isabella is introduced as the eighth pretender, an imaginary princess from Caccamone, the love-smitten Rodrigo being certain that she will beat the inexperienced damsels. But trickery makes Rodrigo's plan go amiss and in the final round it is Isabella herself who breaks more dishes than the last competitor, the princess of Altamura. But in the end Isabella succeeds in unmasking the ruse and marrying her beloved prince. When More Than a Miracle opened theatrically, it was well received by most film critics. The Time magazine reviewer probably said it best: "That anybody would bother these days to make so slender and fanciful a film is a miracle in itself; to do it with such a profusion of visual beauty is More Than a Miracle." "In addition to be a beautiful movie star and an actress of real talent, Sophia Loren a one-woman anti-poverty program." Vincent Canby, New York Times, 2 nov 1967 Whether on-screen, stunningly shot by Giuseppe De Santis, or in the Tazio Secciaroli stills, the impeccably buoyant Loren features had, indeed, never been more radiant." Tony Crawley, The Films of Sophia Loren. More Than A Miracle had its world premiere on October 19, 1967 in Naples Italy. It premiered in New York at Radio City Music Hall on November 1st, 1967. One of my favorite Sophia films, it combines beautiful cinematography, a moving romantic score by Piero Piccioni and wonderful performances by its cast...and as you can see from the images, Sophia has never looked more beautiful, the only actress in the world that can sparkle and look regal in rags. One last note, the main theme sung in chorus is extremely rare to find these days, it is not available on CD. I was able to transfer it from the original soundtrack vinyl album...So please enjoy!
Sophia Loren - Images From The 1960's
uploaded by boopkid at youtube.com
Sophia Loren is still a magnificent beauty and actress, she will soon be starring in a new major motion picture production- Rob Marshall's musical "Nine", at age 74, no less! However, after formidably debuting in the 1950's, she reached her prime during the 1960's- It was her crowning decade. With this video I've humbly attempted to capture and document some of her most wonderful images, underlining her unique beauty and acting talent. A decade that began with the lovely Hollywood film "A Breath Of Scandal" playing a princess, a hilarious millionairess in the The Millionairess, and the heartwarming cabaret singer and aunt in "It Started In Naples"; moving on to her great Oscar winning role in "Two Women" in 1961, then through the mid 60's with great Italian films- "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" and "Marriage Italian Style". The latter again garnering her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. She then went on to make major international productions such as "The Fall Of The Roman Empire", "Operation Crossbow", "Judith", "Lady L", Arabesque", and "A Countess From Hong Kong". Crowning the end of the decade with the marvelous romantic fantasy "More Than A Miracle" and the funny "Ghosts Italian Style". But her greatest achievement by far was to be a mother, and after numerous miscarriages and untold efforts she managed to give birth to Carlo Jr. in late 1969. I discovered Sophia for the first time as a child in 1961 when I saw her in "El Cid". She made a great impression then, but it would be the movie "Arabesque" that would make me a devoted fan for life. Her elegant and sexy entrance into Gregory Peck's room in that negligee was IT...I then went on to see almost all her movies whether at the movies or on TV, video tape or DVD and to me there is no greater beauty or actress than Sophia Loren. I hope you enjoy these images set to the sweet little song, "Zoo Be Zoo Be Zoo" sung with style and innocence by Miss Loren herself and recorded in 1960 at the start of what would be a magical decade for her. Please take the time to watch this video and comment/rate it. Thank you kindly.:o)
