About – Music at my fingertips
I work busy hours, and to make up for working so much I do other activities that help relax me. But one thing is a staple no matter what I do or where I go. Music. I plug in my headphones and add a bounce to my step as I head to work each day. But so many things have changed since I first started listening to music online. I remember when I used to use Napster. That was my go-to music service provider and I was honestly so lost when they shut down. I’m a little slow when it comes to finding new sites and this caused a pause in my music listening hours.
But more options popped up along the years, and this made life pretty good. I find the day feels better with music streaming into my head. A journey feels more pleasant and goes by faster when I’m listening to music. But seriously, music streaming websites made such a difference. I remember downloading music from the internet and also ripping music from the CDs at home just so I’d have music to listen to. But it did get boring after a while when you’ve heard all the music in your library in a loop day in- day out.
I guess this is why I like streaming music so much more. I’ve saved up a lot more storage space for pictures of my kids, places we’re travelled, instead of making my phone overflow with music. Depending upon my mood, I can switch stations, genres or artists with one touch. In fact, I just introduced the concept to my husband – who likes music but doesn’t have the same music taste as me. You can imagine if you’re trying to make everyone in your home happy – buying CDs for everyone can be an expensive affair.
We all love listening to music and this enables us to have access to any type of music, anytime. We have a Spotify account which can be accessed on our smart phone, laptop and other electronic devices which means I don’t have to search from scratch whether I’m at home or at work. Everything is linked well, and the best thing is, I can access other user’s playlists so I am exposed to new songs that I otherwise would’ve missed out on.
There were other streaming websites I used to use but they have gone defunct by now. What is also great is that I can upload my music too! I dabble in music from time to time when I am a little free and I started uploading clips of my own music online via various other websites, and the response is quite overwhelming. It’s nice to get recognition and encouragement and feedback from people all over the world. These websites have opened new doors in the music industry and have bridged gaps that otherwise existed within the music fields. Now everyone has a chance to their five minutes, or at times even more, of fame. Let’s see where this musical journey takes me – and hopefully someone will notice my music clips and sign me on. I can dream, can’t I?
